Kuan-Teh Jeang, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Kuan-Teh Jeang received his MD and PhD degrees from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1984. In 1985, he joined the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as a Medical Staff Fellow, and then moved to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to begin his research program on human retroviruses in 1988.

Dr. Jeang is currently the Head of the Molecular Virology Section in the Laboratory of Molecular Microbiology, NIAID. He is the president-elect of the Society of Chinese Bioscientists in America (SCBA) and serves as a councilor for the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).

Dr. Jeang is editor-in-chief of Retrovirology; he is an Associate Editor for Cancer Research; and he is an editorial board member for the Journal of Biological Chemistry and the Journal of Virology. His research interests focus on the gene regulation of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and how the human T-cell leukemia virus (HTLV-1) causes cancer. He has published more than 240 peer reviewed articles and is an elected member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI), the Association of American Physicians (AAP), and Academia Sinica.
