Pauline Kim

Pauline Kim is the Daniel Noyes Kirby Professor of Law at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. An expert on the law governing the workplace and the employment relationship, she has published extensively on issues affecting workers, including employee privacy, discrimination and job security. Professor Kim’s current research focuses on the use of big data and artificial intelligence in the workplace, and the impact of these new technological tools on employees’ rights, including risks of bias and unfairness, and the legal and policy challenges posed by their adoption. Professor Kim earned her A.B. and J.D. from Harvard University, and was a Henry Fellow at New College, Oxford University. She clerked for the Honorable Cecil F. Poole on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, then worked as a public interest lawyer in San Francisco, representing low-income workers facing discrimination, harassment, and illegal workplace conditions. She currently teaches employment discrimination law, the law of the workplace and civil procedure at Washington University School of Law.
