A provider of physician services that has contracts with hospitals in over 40 states violated federal law by subjecting a female employee to sexual harassment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today. The EEOC also charged that the company unlawfully fired the woman and two co-workers in retaliation for their complaints.

In its lawsuit, the EEOC contended that Woodman's unlawfully fired employee because of her back condition.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today filed suit in federal court against Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Mo., alleging that the center violated federal law by refusing to transfer a male nurse into the operating room because it preferred to have a female nurse in the room when female patients were being treated.

Plastics manufacturer Promens USA, Inc. will pay $225,000 to settle a sex discrimination and harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The EEOC sued Promens USA, formerly known as Bonar Plastics, Inc., in September 2010 on behalf of four women who were sexually harassed, retaliated against for rejecting their supervisor's sexual advances, and denied job opportunities open only to male employees. (EEOC v. Promens USA, Inc. and Bonar Plastics, Inc., No. 10 C 6232 [N.D. Ill.]).
