Dallas District Office Enforcement Unit Internships

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is the federal agency charged with enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination, including the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 as amended, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA) and Pregnancy Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) of 2023.

The Dallas District Office of the EEOC is seeking applications from qualified and highly motivated students for an unpaid virtual internship program with its Enforcement Unit. The Enforcement Unit of the Dallas District Office investigates charges of discrimination filed against employers. Please access our site for more information, https://www.eeoc.gov/careers/volunteerservice- program.

Internship duties and assignments may include the following:

  • assist investigators in developing a variety of evidentiary materials related to charges of employment discrimination.
  • interview witnesses; review documents; analyze records; preparing mass mailings.
  • analyze case files for compliance with federal employment discrimination laws.
  • draft charges of discrimination and create charge files.
  • respond to inquiries regarding potential charges.
  • correspond with charging parties or employers regarding charges of discrimination.
  • contact witnesses and draft interview questions.

Interns will work in Enforcement and the Charge Receipt/Technical Information Unit (CRTIU). Working in these areas allows the opportunity to observe settlement conferences and fact-finding conferences and to see how charges are received and categorized.

The complexity of the work assigned will depend on workload demands and/or the student’s demonstrated abilities during the internship. While there may be some clerical work relating to the investigations, we are committed to providing interns with assignments to develop and further their research, analytical, and/or writing skills during their internships. Applicants should have strong analytical, communication, research, and writing skills.

During the Fall and Winter semesters, we prefer students who can commit a minimum of 10 hours per week and maximum of 25 hours per week respectfully.
