Today the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a religious discrimination suit against Tri-County Lexus, a large dealership in Little Falls, N.J., alleging that the company violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by refusing to hire a Sikh man for a sales position solely because he refused to shave his beard, which is required by his faith.

EEOC Suit Claims Chubb Insurance Refused to Promote Asian Employee Because of Race

Chubb & Son, a property and casualty insurance giant, unlawfully refused to consider an Asian employee in its Milwaukee underwriting office for promotions based on her race, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  The suit further asserted that Chubb illegally retaliated against the employee, Kong Chee Vang, for filing a discrimination charge with EEOC, and she was again passed over for job openings as a result.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed suit against Brand Energy & Infrastructure Services, Inc., and related companies (Brand), for sexually harassing and later firing an employee because she refused her boss's sexual advances and demands, in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ("Title VII"), the agency announced today.  The case arises from the charge of a former Brand employee, who worked for the company at a Louisiana facility doing business under the name of Brand Scaffold Services.

EEOC Sues Barnhouse Restaurant in Kewanee for Sexual Harassment and Retaliation

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a lawsuit on September 23 charging that Levidion, Inc., doing business as the Barnhouse Restaurant, violated federal law by sexually harassing female employees and retaliating against employees who complained about it.  The EEOC also asserted that the harassment was so intolerable that several women were forced to resign their jobs to avoid the harassment.  Barnhouse Restaurant is located in Kewanee, Ill., near the Quad Cities, which span the Mississippi River in northwestern Illinois and Iowa.

EEOC to Announce Multi-Million Dollar Settlement for Widespread Age Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will announce the settlement of an age discrimination lawsuit against a major corporation at a Las Vegas news conference on September 29.  The EEOC's lawsuit included allegations of widespread age discrimination and the termination of a class of older workers over the age of 40 who were replaced by younger staff.  Several victims, along with EEOC officials, will make statements about the discrimination suffered at the news conference in Las Vegas.

CHICAGO - The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today filed a race discrimination lawsuit against DHL Express, Inc. on behalf of a class of African-American employees who were given different job assignments because of their race.  The EEOC received more than 20 charges of discrimination against DHL alleging that the shipping and delivery giant discriminated against black workers.
