EEOC Wins Jury Verdict of More than $20 Million for Sexual Harassment and Retaliation

A federal jury has returned a unanimous verdict awarding a total of $20,251,963 to eight former employees of Four Amigos Travel, Inc. and Top Dog Travel, Inc., a former Florida vacation agency with offices in Largo, Orlando and Lake Lauderdale, Fla., who suffered sexual harassment and retaliation, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today.

GEO Group to Pay $140,000 to Settle Sexual Harassment Suit Filed by EEOC and ACRD

The GEO Group, Inc., a prison management company, will pay a total of $140,000 to two women and furnish other relief to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the Arizona Civil Rights Division (ACRD) and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agencies announced today.  In a successful collaboration between the EEOC and ACRD, the case was co-litigated by the two law enforcement civil rights agencies.  GEO is a large private corporation headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla., that runs over a hundred private prison facilities across the country.

EEOC Sues Olympia Construction

Olympia Construction, Inc. violated federal anti-discrimination laws when its project superintendent and a supervisor racially harassed three African-American employees at one of its Selma construction sites, according to a lawsuit filed March 29, 2013 by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).  Olympia Construction, headquartered in Albertville, Ala., develops and builds housing for families and senior citizens in eight states throughout the South and Southeastern United States.

EEOC  Birmingham Office Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Mexican Consulate

The Birmingham District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Consulate of Mexico in Atlanta on April 17.  The agreement establishes an ongoing collaborative relationship between these two entities to provide Mexican nationals with information, guidance, and access to resources on the prevention of discrimination in the workplace, regardless of documentation status.  Ricardo Camara Sánchez, Consul General of Mexico in Atlanta, and Delner Franklin-Thomas, director of the Birmingham District, will sign the agreement.

Oficina De La EEOC En Birmingham Firma  Memorando De Entendimiento Con Consulado Mexicano

La Oficina del Distrito de Birmingham de la Comisión Para la Igualdad de Oportunidades en Empleo (EEOC) firmará un Memorando de Entendimiento (MOU) con el Consulado de México en Atlanta el 17 de abril. El acuerdo establece una relación permanente de colaboración entre estas dos entidades para dar a ciudadanos mexicanos información, orientación y acceso a recursos para la prevención de la discriminación laboral, independientemente de su condición legal.
