Professional Freezing Services to Pay $80k under Consent Decree Ending Disability Discrimination Suit

The federal district court in Chicago has entered a consent decree requiring Professional Freezing Services, LLC, a Southwest Side Chicago provider of logistical services to the refrigerated and frozen food markets, to pay $80,000 and provide other relief in order to resolve a disability discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.

EEOC Wins Summary Judgment in American Tool & Mold Disability Case

In an order issued late Wednesday afternoon, a federal judge ruled in favor of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) that a Clearwater, Fla.-based company, American Tool & Mold, Inc. (ATM), violated federal disability discrimination law by withdrawing a job offer because of the applicant's old back injury.  ATM designs and manufactures injection molds for plastics.

Kenan Transport to Pay $27,000 to Settle EEOC Pregnancy Discrimination and Retaliation Suit

Kenan Transport, LLC, a Delaware trucking company that operates a terminal in Spartanburg, S.C., will pay $27,000 to settle a pregnancy discrimination and retaliation lawsuit brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged in its lawsuit that Kenan Transport violated federal law by discriminating against a female employee because she was pregnant and by retaliating against her because she made complaints about pregnancy discrimination.

Appeals Court Rules for the EEOC in Age Bias Lawsuit Against Baltimore County

In a second victory for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in this case, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit rejected Baltimore County's appeal of a district court decision finding that Baltimore County's pension plan discriminates based on age, the EEOC announced today.  The court's 17-page opinion, issued on March 31, affirmed the grant of partial summary judgment in favor of the EEOC finding that Baltimore County maintained a retirement plan in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA) and remands the case for further proceedings on the issue of damages.

Davis Typewriter Company Settles  EEOC Sexual Harassment Suit

Davis Typewriter Company, a Worthington, Minn., office furniture and office supply company, will be subject to a sweeping federal court injunction and pay $11,000 in emotional-distress damages to a former employee to settle a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The consent decree resolving the case was approved late yesterday by Judge David S. Doty of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
