EEOC Sues United Health Programs of America and Parent Company for Religious Discrimination

A Syosset, N.Y.-based health network violated federal law when it forced employees to take part in religious activities in the workplace and fired employees who opposed such activities, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit announced today.  Such alleged practices violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on religion.

EEOC Announces New Director and Trial Attorney for its Savannah Local Office

Today the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced the selection of Holly Hadfield Aguilar as director of its Savannah Local Office and James Allen as the office's trial attorney.  The Savannah Local Office is part of the EEOC's Atlanta District Office, which covers all of Georgia and southern South Carolina.

EEOC Joins Office of U.S. Attorney, Bar Association, Law School in Continuing Legal Education Seminar

On Friday, June 13, the Birmingham and Memphis District Offices of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will join several other government and educational entities in a continuing legal education seminar (CLE) entitled Remaking America: 50 Years of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VII is the portion of the Civil Rights Act that prohibits discrimination in employment on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion and sex.

House of Raeford Farms, Inc., a poultry processor, will pay $52,000 and provide other relief to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that House of Raeford violated federal law by discriminating against an employee because of her disability.

In an order issued yesterday, a federal judge entered a final judgment against American Tool & Mold, LLC (ATM), in a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.  The judge awarded $150,000 in damages and provided for extensive injunctive relief to remedy the discrimination.

Federal Court Approves EEOC Subpoena in Investigation of Giant Milwaukee Indian Casino

On May 6, U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman approved the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's application to enforce a subpoena against Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee, the federal agency announced today.  The ruling allows the EEOC to proceed with its investigation of an age discrimination charge filed against the casino by former employee Federico Colón.  The casino is located near downtown Milwaukee and has more than 3,000 employees.
