Departamento De Justicia Resuelve Demanda Por Acoso Sexual, Represalias Contra El Estado De Maryland, Condado Queen Anne's, Y Sheriff Del Condado De Queen Anne's

El Departamento de Justicia anunció hoy que ha firmado un decreto de consentimiento con el estado de Maryland y el sheriff del condado de Queen Anne's. Si es aprobado por el tribunal, el acuerdo resolverá Murphy-Taylor v. Estado de Maryland, et al., Una demanda de acoso sexual y represalias en la que los Estados Unidos intervinieron en febrero del 2013. EEOC's New York, Philadelphia Offices and Philippine Consulate Sign Partnership Agreement

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) New York and Philadelphia District Offices signed a Memorandum of Under­stand­ing (MOU) with the Philippine Consulate General at a joint press conference today.  The agreement, signed by EEOC District Directors Kevin Berry and Spencer H. Lewis Jr., with Philippine Consul General Ambassador Mario L. De Leon, Jr. officially establishes a three-year collaboration between these government entities to solidify their efforts to enforce, protect and educate all Philippine citizens in the United States about their employment rights of in the workplace, regardless of immigration status.

Seapod Pawnshops to Pay $300,000 to Settle EEOC Harassment Lawsuit

Seapod Pawnbrokers, a chain of pawnshops in Brooklyn and Queens, N.Y., will pay $300,000 and cut ties with its former owner to settle an EEOC lawsuit charging harassment and retaliation against its Hispanic female employees, the agency announced today.

Justice Department Settles Sexual Harassment and Retaliation Suit Against the State of Maryland, Queen Anne's County, and the Queen Anne's County Sheriff

The Justice Department announced today that it has entered into a consent decree with the state of Maryland and the Queen Anne's County Sheriff.  If approved by the court, the settlement will resolve Murphy-Taylor v. State of Maryland, et al., a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit in which the United States intervened in Feb. 2013.  The United States previously entered into a consent decree with Queen Anne's County in May 2014.

EEOC Signs National Memorandum of Understanding with Philippine  Foreign Affairs Department

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines today signed a national Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).  The agreement is designed to further strengthen their collaborative efforts to provide immigrant, migrant and otherwise vulnerable Filipino workers and their employers with guidance and information and access to education about their rights and responsibilities under the laws enforced by the EEOC.

Concesionario de Autos Benny Boyd Pagará $250,000 a Ex Gerente en arreglo con La EEOC

Benny Boyd Chevrolet-Chrysler-Dodge Jeep, Ltd., haciendo negocio como Benny Boyd Lubbock, y Boyd-Lamesa Management, L.C. pagará $250,000 en daños y perjuicios y pago retroactivo al ex gerente Randall Hurst para resolver una demanda federal de discriminación por discapacidad, la Comisión Para la Igualdad de Oportunidades en el Empleo (EEOC) anunció hoy. Benny Boyd Car Dealership to Pay $250,000 to Former Manager in EEOC Settlement

Benny Boyd Chevrolet-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep, Ltd., d/b/a Benny Boyd Lubbock, and Boyd-Lamesa Management, L.C. will pay $250,000 in damages and back pay to former manager Randall Hurst to settle a federal disability discrimination suit, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today.  The EEOC had charged the automobile dealership with disability discrimination law by denying a partnership to Hurst because of his multiple sclerosis, subjecting him to a hostile work environment and forcing him to quit as a result.

Rosa Viramontes to Lead EEOC's Los Angeles Office

Jenny R. Yang, Chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), announced on Jan. 8 the selection of Rosa Viramontes, a long-term EEOC employee, as the new director of its Los Angeles District Office.  The EEOC's Los Angeles District Office encompasses central and southern California, southern Nevada, Hawaii, and the U.S. territories of Guam, American Samoa, Wake Islands and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

EEOC Joins Federal Partners to Produce Resource Guide for Employers

On Tuesday, Feb. 3, at a Summit on Disability and Employment, the White House announced a new guide for employers that compiles key federal and federally funded resources related to the employment of people with disabilities. The resource guide, Recruiting, Hiring, Retaining, and Promoting People with Disabilities, provides employers with plain language technical assistance tools in an easy-to-use question-and-answer format.  The guide was produced by the Curb Cuts to the Middle Class Initiative -- a federal interagency effort working to increase equal employment opportunities and financial independence for people with disabilities.

EEOC Seeks to Improve Federal Sector Equal Employment Opportunity Complaint Process

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has issued an advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) on the equal employment opportunity (EEO) complaint process in the federal sector, the agency announced today.  The ANPRM, which has been coordinated with other federal agencies, is published in the Federal Register at https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2015/02/06/2015-02330/federal-sector-equal-employment-opportunity.

EEOC Releases Fiscal Year 2014  Enforcement and Litigation Data

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today released a comprehensive set of fiscal year 2014 private sector data tables providing detailed breakdowns for the 88,778 charges of workplace discrimination the agency received. The fiscal year ran from Oct. 1, 2013, to Sept. 30, 2014.

EEOC Sues Stack Bros. Mechanical Contractors for Age Discrimination and Retaliation

Stack Bros. Mechanical Contractors, Inc., of Superior, Wis., a major heating and plumbing contractor in northern Wisconsin and northern Minnesota, violated federal law by firing two employees when they reached age 62 and by retaliating against one of those employees for resisting the company's plan to discriminate against her, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.
