Sirdah Enterprises, Inc., doing business as Taboo 2 Bar & Bistro in Roswell, Ga., has consented to a judgment of $250,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Oppor­tu­nity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. As Sirdah is currently in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, the judgment will be distributed in accordance with the bankruptcy process.

DeHaven's Transfer & Storage, Inc., a residential and commercial moving company, has agreed to pay $35,000 and provide significant relief to settle a pregnancy discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. EEOC had charged in its lawsuit that DeHaven's violated federal law by discrimin­ating against a female employee when it fired her because she was pregnant.

EEOC Suit Against Company That Has Never Hired a Woman Miner Can Proceed

Relying upon the Supreme Court's 2015 decision in the case, the Southern District of Illinois on January 19th confirmed that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) could proceed with its sex discrimination action (Case No. 11 cv 00879) against Mach Mining, which operates a Johnston City, Ill. coal mine. Judge J. Phil Gilbert, to whom the case is assigned, rejected the company's attempt to use supposed flaws in the agency's pre-suit conciliation process as a basis for delay or dismissal of the case.

New 'Digest Of EEO Law' Issued By EEOC

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced the latest edition of its federal sector Digest of Equal Employment Opportunity Law, which is available online. The Digest now includes hyperlinks so that stakeholders can easily access the full decisions which have been summarized. This quarterly publication, prepared by EEOC's Office of Federal Operations (OFO), features a wide variety of recent Commission decisions and federal court cases of interest. The current edition also includes a special year-end selection of notable EEOC decisions for fiscal year 2015 (which ended Sept. 30, 2015).
