Noodles Asian Bistro Sued by EEOC For Pregnancy Discrimination

Noodles Asian Bistro, Inc., an Asian restaurant located in Bartlett, Tenn., violated federal law when it fired two female servers because of their pregnancies, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.  The EEOC also alleged that Noodles Asian Bistro failed to post and keep posted the notice of non-discrimination rights as required by federal law.

Shipley's Do-Nuts Franchise Sued by EEOC for Pregnancy Discrimination and Retaliation

D & S Shipley Donuts d/b/a Shipley's Do-Nuts, a Katy-area franchise of Shipley's Do-Nuts, violated federal anti-discrimination laws when it forced an employee whom it suspected of being pregnant, to take unpaid leave until she was cleared by a doctor indicating that she could work despite her pregnancy, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today. When the employee failed to provide a release, and after she and her mother disputed the legality of the requirement, the employee was fired in retaliation.

Federal Court Approves EEOC Subpoena in Investigation of Giant Milwaukee Indian Casino

On May 6, U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman approved the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's application to enforce a subpoena against Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee, the federal agency announced today.  The ruling allows the EEOC to proceed with its investigation of an age discrimination charge filed against the casino by former employee Federico Colón.  The casino is located near downtown Milwaukee and has more than 3,000 employees.
