EEOC VICE CHAIRMAN TO GET INPUT ON WORKPLACE DISCRIMINATION FROM LOCAL COMMUNITY, GOVERNMENT & BUSINESS LEADERS

PORTLAND, ORE. -- Recent reforms at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will be the focus of discussions between agency Vice Chairman Paul M. Igasaki and local principals who have a stake in EEOC's efforts to fight job discrimination. COMMISSION TO HEAR PANEL DISCUSS AGE DISCRIMINATION AND WORKPLACE ISSUES AFFECTING OLDER AMERICANS AT NEXT MEETING

WASHINGTON -- In the fifth of a series of Commission meetings focusing on specific types of unlawful employment discrimination, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will hear presentations by invited experts on employment bias against older Americans. EEOC enforces the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) which prohibits employment discrimination against persons 40 years of age or older.

MONSANTO AND CHEVRON CHEMICAL AGREE TO SETTLE DISCRIMINATION LAWSUIT WITH 43 FORMER ORTHO EMPLOYEES AND EEOC

ST. LOUIS -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Monsanto Company, Chevron Chemical Company, and a group of 43 former employees of Chevron Chemical's Ortho Consumer Products business agreed today to a consent decree that resolves an age, race, and disability discrimination lawsuit. As part of the settlement, the plaintiffs will be paid a total of $18,250,000, which includes lost wages, compensation for other damages, the fees and cost of the plaintiffs'

EEOC SUES THE HERTZ CORPORATION FOR DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION

DETROIT -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced the filing of a disability discrimination lawsuit against The Hertz Corporation. The lawsuit is the first filed by EEOC under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on behalf of individuals with mental retardation.

EEOC AND GENERAL DYNAMICS CORPORATION SETTLE AGE DISCRIMINATION CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR $2.5 MILLION

ST. LOUIS, MO - The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and General Dynamics Corporation today filed a settlement agreement in federal district court resolving an age discrimination suit for $2.5 million for 31 former employees.

The lawsuit arises out of a l992 layoff that occured soon after General Dyamics moved its corporate headquarters from St. Louis to Falls Church, Virginia. In May l991, about 110 employees were relocated to Falls Church, but
