Frenchman Hills Vineyard Settles Sexual EEOC Sex Harassment Lawsuit

An Eastern Washington winery, La Pianta L.C.C., agreed to pay $33,000 to a Latina worker who had been employed at Frenchman Hills Vineyard in Othello, Wash., as part of a settlement to resolve a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.

McDonald's will pay $50,000 to settle a sex discrimination suit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The EEOC charged that McDonald's USA, LLC unlawfully subjected an employee to sexual harassment at one of its Perth Amboy, N.J., restaurants.

Cannon & Wendt Held in Contempt for Failure to Comply Fully with Consent Decree

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today that a federal court has granted in part the EEOC's request that the court hold Cannon & Wendt Electric Co., Inc., in contempt for failing to comply with the terms of a consent decree settling a discrimination suit.  The court ordered Cannon & Wendt Electric Co., Inc., to pay $20,000 in back pay to Victor Cortez, as previously agreed to by the company, rejecting the company's demand that the discrimination victim submit a new I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) form as a precondition.

EEOC Sues Forrest City Grocery for Sex Discrimination

Forrest City Grocery Company, formerly known as Dixie Tobacco & Candy Company, violated federal law by denying a promotion to a qualified female employee because of her sex, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed on September 29.  The EEOC alleges that the Arkansas-based company discriminated against a clerical employee when the company failed to promote her to an outside salesperson position because of her gender, and refused to pay her what it paid male employees performing comparable duties.

Papermoon Strip Club to Pay $95,000 to Settle EEOC Race Discrimination Lawsuit

The owners/operators of a Stuart, Fla., strip club will pay $95,000 and furnish other relief to settle a race discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that Papermoon-Stuart, Inc., and Imaginary Images, Inc., a Richmond, Va., parent corporation, violated federal law when they subjected two black doormen to racial harassment, segregation, and differing terms and conditions of employment.  The company also retaliated against white employees who complained, the EEOC said.
