Lawrence Transportation Systems To Pay $30,000 To Settle EEOC Religious Discrimination Lawsuit

A moving and storage company headquartered in Roanoke will pay $30,000 and furnish substantial relief to settle a religious discrimination lawsuit filed the by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The company, Lawrence Transportation Systems, Inc., also has facilities in Waynesboro, Va., and Greensboro, N.C.

EmCare Sued By EEOC For Sexual Harassment And Retaliation

A provider of physician services that has contracts with hospitals in over 40 states violated federal law by subjecting a female employee to sexual harassment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today. The EEOC also charged that the company unlawfully fired the woman and two co-workers in retaliation for their complaints.

Bojangles' Restaurants Sued by EEOC for Sexual Harassment and Retaliation

Bojangles' Restaurants, Inc. violated federal law by subjecting female employees to a sexually hostile work environment at one of its corporate-owned restaurants, and by firing one woman who complained about the sexual harassment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.  The restaurant involved in the lawsuit is located in Greensboro, N.C.

Woodman's To Pay $35,000 For Disability Bias

A federal judge has approved a consent decree resolving a disability discrimination lawsuit against Woodman's Food Market's, Inc. filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. In its lawsuit, the EEOC contended that Woodman's unlawfully fired employee because of her back condition.

EEOC Sues Audrain Medical Center for Sex Discrimination

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today filed suit in federal court against Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Mo., alleging that the center violated federal law by refusing to transfer a male nurse into the operating room because it preferred to have a female nurse in the room when female patients were being treated.

Trinity Health Corporation Sued by EEOC for Retaliation

Trinity Health Corporation violated federal law by retaliating against employees who file or refuse to drop discrimination charges with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  Trinity Health is a national Catholic health care system which is the parent of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, a North Central Indiana health care system.

One of the largest metropolitan Jewish community centers in the country will pay $100,000 and provide other relief to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The EEOC had charged that the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington (JCCGW) in Rockville, Md., violated the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) when it demoted and fired an assistant teacher because of her hearing impairment.

Promens USA Pays $225,000 To Settle EEOC Lawsuit

Plastics manufacturer Promens USA, Inc. will pay $225,000 to settle a sex discrimination and harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The EEOC sued Promens USA, formerly known as Bonar Plastics, Inc., in September 2010 on behalf of four women who were sexually harassed, retaliated against for rejecting their supervisor's sexual advances, and denied job opportunities open only to male employees. (EEOC v. Promens USA, Inc. and Bonar Plastics, Inc., No. 10 C 6232 [N.D. Ill.]).
