EEOC’s Memphis District Office is Moving

MEMPHIS – The Memphis District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is moving, the federal agency announced today. The new office, which should provide improved security and accessibility for the public, is 200 Jefferson Avenue, Suite 1400, Memphis, TN 38103. Telephone numbers and email addresses will remain the same.

The Memphis District Office is responsible for processing charges of discrimination against private, state, and local government employers in Arkansas, Tennessee, and parts of Mississippi and for conducting hearings regarding complaints against federal government employers in this geographic area.

During the transition, the office will be closed to the public for walk-in services and will reopen at the new location on or about March 20. However, the office is operational and meeting the needs of stakeholders virtually.

Individuals who wish to file a charge of discrimination are encouraged to visit the EEOC Public Portal (https://publicportal.eeoc.gov/) to schedule an intake appointment by telephone. The system can also be accessed directly at our website at https://www.eeoc.gov. Federal employees are also encouraged to use the EEOC Public Portal to file requests for hearings and appeals.

If you are near a filing deadline or wish to contact us by telephone, please call our local office at 901-685-4590, or our national office at 1-800-669-4000. For more information on filing deadlines, please go to our website at https://www.eeoc.gov/field-office/memphis/timeliness. Anyone who cannot use the portal may call the EEOC at 1-800-669-4000 to begin the process of filing a charge. Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing may reach EEOC by ASL videophone at 1-844-234-5122.

The Memphis District continues to mediate EEOC charges of discrimination. Mediations are currently being conducted through virtual meetings or by telephone conference call. If you have a charge pending in the EEOC Memphis District Office that you are interested in mediating, or if you would like one of our mediators to give your organization an overview of our mediation program and process, please contact our ADR Coordinator, Jimmy Jones, at jimmy.jones@eeoc.gov or 901-685-4641.

We also are conducting virtual and in-person outreach and fee-based training. For more information, please contact our Outreach and Education Coordinator, Melissa Brown, at melissa.brown@eeoc.gov or 629-236-2252.
