EEOC Sues North American Stamping Group for Sex Discrimination

Federal Lawsuit Alleges Automotive Manufacturer Fails to Hire and Promote Females and Subjects Female Employees to a Sexually Hostile Work Environment

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NASG Realty, LLC., (doing business as North American Stamping Group), a manufacturer of stamped metal components and welded assemblies for the automotive industry, violated federal law by failing to hire and promote female employees to certain production jobs and subjecting female employees to a sexually hostile work environment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit announced today.

According to the EEOC, NASG has engaged in an ongoing pattern or practice of discriminating against female employees by denying them equal opportunities for placement and advancement in production jobs historically dominated by men. Additionally, the lawsuit alleges NASG subjects female employees to a persistent sexually hostile work environment, in which female employees experience offensive remarks, dismissive and demeaning treatment and physical misconduct based on their sex. Despite multiple reports of such behavior to human resources, NASG failed to take appropriate steps to address the pervasive hostility and anti-female animus in the workplace.

Such alleged conduct violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment. The EEOC filed EEOC v. NASG Realty, LLC. (Case No. 3:25-cv-00066) in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, Nashville Division, after first attempting to reach pre-litigation settlement through its administrative conciliation process.

“Ensuring workplaces are free from sex discrimination and sexual harassment remains a top priority for the EEOC, especially in industries such as manufacturing where women continue to face significant barriers,” said Delner Franklin Thomas, district director for the EEOC’s Memphis District Office. “Our agency will hold employers accountable if they allow this type of inexcusable conduct to occur.”

The EEOC is the sole federal agency authorized to investigate and litigate against businesses and other private sector employers for violations of federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. For public sector employers, the EEOC shares jurisdiction with the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division; the EEOC is responsible for investigating charges against state and local government employers before referring them to DOJ for potential litigation. The EEOC also is responsible for coordinating the federal government’s employment antidiscrimination effort. More information about the EEOC is available at www.eeoc.gov.
