Law Student Internships U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Indianapolis District Office, Legal Unit

Work Description:

  • Work closely with the District’s legal unit performing tasks including: (1) legal research and writing; (2) functioning as team members on district litigation and performing tasks such as discovery assistance, interviews and claimant development. Interns will also attend internal legal/enforcement meetings, local conferences, and trials and hearings which occur during the period of their internship.
     
  • Interns will be provided with exposure to all aspects of the EEOC process (intake, investigation, federal hearings and introduction to mediation).  Interns will also be given opportunities to work  with district personnel outside the legal unit.
     
  • Summer Interns will work between 32 and 40 hours per week. Academic year interns will work 5-10 hours per week.
     
  • Requirements:
     
  • Current students who will have completed at least one year of law school.
     
  • Excellent writing skills and people skills and interest in public interest work.

Salary: Unpaid. Academic credit may be obtained through your law school.

Starting date: Late May and the spring and fall semesters.  Applications for summer internships must be received by February 8. Applications for fall and spring semester will be accepted on a rolling basis.
