Barry Hartstein

Meeting of July 26, 2011 – EEOC to Examine Arrest and Conviction Records as a Hiring Barrier

Barry Hartstein is a shareholder in the Chicago office of Littler Mendelson, P.C. Mr. Hartstein has earned a national reputation for his work, a career that includes more than 30 years of counseling and representing employers in a broad range of employment law matters, including defending employers in individual and class action claims. Mr. Hartstein has served in a leadership role for many years in the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law, including his longstanding role as Co-Chair of the Liaison Committee with the EEOC in Chicago and previous position as Management Co-Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee. He also has served in a leadership role for many years with Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations ("ILR School), the leading school in the country focusing on workplace issues. He serves as a member of the Dean's Advisory Board, the Board of Directors of the Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution and Executive Committee for the ILR School's Alumni Association, recently completing his term as President of the Association. In March 2011, Mr. Hartstein was the recipient of the "William B.Groat Alumni Award," based on service to the School and his contributions to the labor and employment field.

Mr. Hartstein  has been honored based on his inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America,  and various other publications and has been inducted into the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers based on his contributions to the field.
