Patrick Button is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Tulane University. He received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Irvine in 2015. Button is an Affiliated Researcher with the Michigan Retirement Research Center and the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) Disability Research Center. Button research specialty is age and disability discrimination in employment. Button's research quantifies age discrimination in hiring by sending employers matched resumes of older and younger applicants. In other projects, Button estimates the effects of state and federal age and disability employment discrimination laws on employment outcomes for older workers and individuals with disabilities. Button is the Co-Principal Investigator on two grants from the NBER Disability Research Center and has publications in reputable peer-reviewed academic journals such as the American Economic Review, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, and the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management. Button's work has been featured in over 30 media stories, such as features on PBSNewHour and NPR.
