Baltimore County Will Pay $5.4 Million to Settle Long-Running EEOC Age Discrimination Lawsuit

BALTIMORE – Baltimore County will pay approximately $5.4 million to over 2,000 county employees resolve a federal age discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.

American Security Insurance Company Will Pay $49,000 to Settle EEOC Disability Discrimination Suit

ATLANTA – American Security Insurance Company, an insurance company and subsidiary of Assurant, Inc., will pay $49,000 and furnish other relief to settle a federal disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Oppor­tunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.

IDEC Corporation to Pay $275,000 to Settle EEOC Disability Discrimination Lawsuit

CHICAGO – IDEC Corporation, a worldwide industrial device manufacturer, will pay $275,000 and furnish other relief to settle a disability discrimination case brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.

According to the EEOC’s lawsuit, IDEC engaged in unlawful discrimination at its East Dundee, Ill., location when it terminated an employee because it perceived the employee to have disabling impairments, including sleep apnea and a heart condition.

EEOC to Hold First-Ever Remote Public Meeting On April 29

WASHINGTON – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will hold a remote, audio-only Commission meeting on Wednesday, April 29, at 1:00 p.m. (Eastern Time).

This will be the first remote, telephonic-only Commission meeting in the EEOC’s 55-year history.

Champion Fiberglass Settles EEOC Suit for Class Hiring Discrimination

HOUSTON - Champion Fiberglass, Inc. ("Champion"), a Houston-area manufacturing company, has settled a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. EEOC Sues United Precision Products Company for Age Discrimination

Sunridge Nurseries Settles Discrimination Lawsuit

FRESNO - Sunridge Nurseries, Inc., a grower in the grapevine nursery stock industry, has agreed to pay $237,500 to settle a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today. 

The EEOC's lawsuit alleged that Sunridge failed to re-hire a group of Filipino seasonal farm workers in retaliation for having complained about national origin/race discrimination. Some of these workers were long term employees.
