USAIR TO PAY $300,000 FOR PREDECESSOR'S ALLEGED AGE BIAS IN PILOT HIRING

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today that USAir, Inc. has agreed to settle a lawsuit charging Piedmont Aviation with violating the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA). The proposed settlement provides a total of $300,000 in damages and 32 pilot positions for eligible claimants.

SENATE CONFIRMS NEW LEADERSHIP AT EEOC

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Senate late yesterday unanimously confirmed the nominations of Gilbert F. Casellas, Paul M. DISABILITIES ACT EXPANDS TO COVER EMPLOYERS WITH 15 OR MORE WORKERS

WASHINGTON -- On July 26, Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will expand its coverage to include employers with 15 or more employees, bringing the ADA into parity with federal prohibitions against employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Supreme Court announced June 20 it will not hear Garcia et al. v. Spun Steak Co. In doing so, the Court will let stand a decision by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that allows Spun Steak to prevent employees from speaking their native language at work.
