EEOC Examines Rights, Challenges of People with Disabilities on Rehab Act Anniversary

Elk Grove car dealership Maita Chevrolet has agreed to pay $158,000 and to implement preventive measures to settle a religious discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.

EEOC's New York, Philadelphia Offices and Consulate of Ecuador Sign Historic Partnership Agreement

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) New York and Philadelphia District Offices signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Consulate of Ecuador at a joint press conference in Newark today.  The agreement, signed by EEOC District Directors Kevin Berry and Spencer H. Lewis Jr., with Ecuadorian Minister Consul General Jessica B. Escala Macafferi, officially establishes a two-year collaboration between these government entities to solidify their efforts to enforce, protect and educate all Ecuadorian nationals in the United States about their employment rights of in the workplace, regardless of immigration status.

Angelo's Pizza & Grill Settles EEOC Sexual Harassment Lawsuit for $35,000

Angelo's Pizza and Grill, Inc. and Kefalas Enterprises, Inc., the former and current owners of Angelo's Pizza and Grill, a full-service family restaurant located in upstate New York, will pay seven women $35,000.00 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.

Destination Tahoe Hotel, a nationwide hotel/condominium property management corporation which operates The Resort at Squaw Creek near Lake Tahoe,  has agreed to pay $30,000 and implement preventive measures to resolve a suit charging sexual harassment and retaliation, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today.

Las Oficinas de La EEOC en Nueva York y Filadelfia, Consulado de Ecuador Firman Acuerdo de Asociación

Las Oficinas de la Comisión Para la Igualdad de Oportunidades en Empleo EE.UU. (EEOC) de Nueva York y de Filadelfia firmaron un Memorando de Entendimiento (MOU) con el Consulado de Ecuador en una conferencia de prensa conjunta en Newark. El acuerdo, firmado por los representantes de la EEOC Kevin Berry y Spencer H. Lewis Jr., con el Ministro Cónsul General Jessica B. Escala Macafferi, establece oficialmente una colaboración de dos años entre las entidades gubernamentales para consolidar sus esfuerzos para hacer cumplir, proteger y educar a todos los ecuatorianos en los Estados Unidos acerca de sus derechos de empleo en el lugar de trabajo, independientemente de su estatus migratorio.

EEOC Sues Upper Chesapeake Health System for Disability Discrimination and Retaliation

Upper Chesapeake Health System, a leading health care provider in northeastern Maryland, committed unlawful disability discrimination and retaliation against an employee, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it announced today.  The EEOC charged that the health system failed to provide a reasonable accommodation, fired, and later refused to rehire a pulmonary function technologist because of her disability and in retaliation for her requesting an accommodation and complaining about discrimination.

EEOC Sues Benny Boyd Car Dealership for Disability Discrimination and Harassment

A Lubbock, Texas automobile dealership violated federal disability discrimination law by denying a partnership to a general manager because of his multiple sclerosis, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  The EEOC further alleges that Randall Hurst was subjected to a hostile work environment based on his disability, and forced to quit as a result of the lost pay and harassment.

Zoria Farms and Z Foods Sued by EEOC for Sexual Harassment and Retaliation

Z Foods, Inc., doing business as Zoria Farms, and its predecessor company, Zoria Farms, Inc., subjected its female workers to ongoing sexual abuse, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  The Madera, Calif., dried fruit producer also unlawfully fired a class of workers in retaliation for reporting the abuse, the EEOC said.
