Cottle Strawberry to Pay $12,500 to Settle EEOC Religious Discrimination Lawsuit

Cottle Strawberry Nursery, Inc., a corporation based in Faison, N.C., that has grown, packed, shipped, imported, and distributed fruits and vegetables for over 50 years, will pay $12,500 and provide other relief to settle a religious discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that Cottle Strawberry violated federal law when it refused to accommodate an employee's religious belief and fired her because of her religion, Seventh-day Adventist.

Medstar Good Samaritan Hospital and EEOC Reach $195,000 Agreement to Conciliate EEOC Disability Discrimination Charge

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital (MGSH) announced today the successful conciliation and settlement of a charge filed with the agency under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The EEOC reached a voluntary resolution with the employer through the agency's conciliation process following its investi­gation findings. MGSH did not admit to any wrongdoing or fault in violation of the statute.
