Cheryl Mabry Appointed as Director of State, Local, and Tribal Programs

WASHINGTON – Cheryl Mabry has been appointed Director of State, Local, and Tribal Programs for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.

EEOC Sues Surfside Realty for Age Discrimination

FLORENCE, S.C. – Surfside Realty Co., Inc., which manages vacation rental properties and homeowner associations throughout coastal South Carolina, violated federal law when it fired a long-term employee because of her age, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed Friday.

Commission Approves Changes to Litigation Delegation and Amicus Curiae Approval Process

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) approved yesterday a Resolution Concerning the Commission’s Authority to Commence or Intervene in Litigation, and Revised Procedures for Commission Approval of Amicus Curiae Participation. EEOC Schedules 2021 Openings of EEO Data Collections After Delay Due to COVID-19 Public Health Emergency

WASHINGTON – After delaying the opening of the 2019 EEO-1 Component 1 and the 2020 EEO-3 and 2020 EEO-5 Data Collections on May 8, 2020 in light of the COVID-19 public health emergency, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today that the collections will open in 2021.

EEOC Publishes Final Conciliation Rule

Commission Approves Final Rules and Opinion Letter During Public Meeting

EEOC and Hennepin Healthcare System Agree to Settle Class Discrimination Investigation

MINNEAPOLIS – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced it has reached a settlement with Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc. EEOC Provides Proposed Wellness Rules for Review

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s (EEOC) today forwarded to the Federal Register its Notices of Proposed Rulemakings (NPRM) on wellness programs under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA).  The NPRMs have been cleared by the Office of Management and Budget and sent to the Federal Register for publication.

EEOC Announces Extension of Act Mediation Pilot

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), today announced that it was extending the pilot program that expanded opportunities to voluntarily resolve charges through mediation through Sept. 30, 2021.

Northwest Indiana Fast Food Restaurant Sued by EEOC for Disability Discrimination

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A northern Indiana fast food restaurant violated federal law by rescinding its job offer and failing to accommodate an applicant with a disability it initially hired, according to a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.

EEOC Sues McLane Northeast for Disability Discrimination

BUFFALO – McLane Northeast, a distribution company with a facility outside Baldwinsville, N.Y., violated federal law by refusing to interview a qualified applicant because she was deaf, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.  

According to the EEOC’s complaint, a deaf individual applied for two positions in McLane’s warehouse located in Lysander, N.Y., for which she was fully qualified. McLane contacted her the same day and left a message.

EEOC Wins Judgment Against Enoch Pratt Free Library and Baltimore City for Pay Discrimination

BALTIMORE – On Dec 23, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland ruled that Baltimore City and its Enoch Pratt Free Library violated federal law by paying female Librarian Supervisor Is lower wages than a male coworker because of sex.  The ruling followed a five-day virtual bench trial which occurred September 28 through October 2.

AMR to Pay $162,500 to Settle EEOC Pregnancy Discrimination Lawsuit

SPOKANE, Wash. — Nationwide medical transportation company American Medical Response Ambulance Service, Inc. (AMR) will pay $162,500 and provide other relief to settle a federal pregnancy discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.
