PRESIDENT NAMES PAUL STEVEN MILLER AS A COMMISSIONER OF EEOC

WASHINGTON - President Clinton today announced his intent to nominate Paul Steven Miller to serve as a Commissioner of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for a five-year term expiring in 2004.

Mr. Miller has served on the Commission since October 1994. As a member of the Commission, he participates with the other four Commissioners on all matters which come before the Commission including the development and approval of EEOC enforcement policies

EEOC PANEL TO DISCUSS PAY EQUITY ISSUE AT LANDMARK MEETING IN PHILADELPHIA

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission rarely meets outside of Washington, and has never done so to discuss equal pay in the workplace. However, it will meet in Philadelphia on Tuesday, April 13, to hear outside-the-beltway testimony from individuals representing various EEOC constituency groups on the issue of equal-pay-for-equal- work. U.S. LABOR DEPARTMENT AND EEOC AGREE TO BOOST ENFORCEMENT OF PAY DISCRIMINATION LAWS

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission have approved two Memoranda of Understanding that will enable them to better enforce the laws prohibiting discrimination in the workplace, particularly laws that prohibit discrimination in compensation.

EEOC ANNOUNCES $2.1 MILLION SETTLEMENT OF WAGE DISCRIMINATION SUIT FOR CLASS OF FILIPINO NURSES

KANSAS CITY, MO -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced a $2.1 million settlement of a class employment discrimination lawsuit against Woodbine Healthcare Center (Woodbine), a nursing home in Gladstone, Mo. The suit alleged that Woodbine discriminated against 65 Filipino registered nurses in wages, assignments, and other terms and conditions of employment due to their national origin.

EEOC RELEASES ADA POLICY GUIDANCE ON JOB ACCOMMODATIONS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today released a comprehensive policy guidance entitled Reasonable Accommodation and Undue Hardship Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
