Analytic Stress Relieving Inc, an industrial heat treating service company that services the petrochemical and power markets, will pay $75,000 and furnish other relief to settle a sex-based retaliation discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC"), the agency announced today. The EEOC had charged that Analytic Stress terminated a female employee in retaliation for her complaints about sexual harassment.

Berrien, Chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will open the 14th Annual Examining Conflicts in Employment Laws (EXCEL) Conference in Baltimore, Maryland on August 16, 2011.  The EXCEL Conference is the premier federal training conference for EEO managers, supervisors, practitioners, HR professionals, attorneys and ADR specialists.  EEOC Commissioner Chai Feldblum will also address the conference that Tuesday.

Promens USA Pays $225,000 To Settle EEOC Lawsuit

Plastics manufacturer Promens USA, Inc. will pay $225,000 to settle a sex discrimination and harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The EEOC sued Promens USA, formerly known as Bonar Plastics, Inc., in September 2010 on behalf of four women who were sexually harassed, retaliated against for rejecting their supervisor's sexual advances, and denied job opportunities open only to male employees. (EEOC v. Promens USA, Inc. and Bonar Plastics, Inc., No. 10 C 6232 [N.D. Ill.]).

Court Finds for EEOC in Religious Discrimination Suit Against Abercrombie & Fitch

A federal court has agreed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) that national clothing retail giant Abercrombie & Fitch, doing business as Abercrombie Kids, committed religious discrimination against a 17-year-old Muslim girl, the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that Abercrombie Kids failed to hire Samantha Elauf for a sales position because she wore a hijab, or head scarf, in observance of her sincerely held religious beliefs.

Jackson Park Hospital Sued By EEOC For Race Discrimination And Retaliation

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a class race discrimination lawsuit in federal district court here today against Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center. The EEOC charged that the hospital, on Chicago's South Side, subjected a class of black female employees to different terms and conditions of employment and segregation in job assignments because of their race. The suit also alleged that at least one of the women was demoted in retaliation for opposing and complaining about unlawful employment practices.
