EEOC CHAIR NAOMI EARP AND TOP FEDERAL OFFICIALS TO SPEAK AT 10TH ANNIVERSARY EXCEL CONFERENCE

Denver Conference to Offer One-Stop Training On Federal Sector Employment Discrimination Issues

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will hold its 10th anniversary federal sector EXCEL (Examining Conflicts in Employment Law) conference from Aug. 13 to 16 at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Denver, Colo.

EXCEL is the premier national federal sector law conference and the most comprehensive of its kind examining contemporary equal employment opportunity issues and other workplace topics.

EEOC Chair Naomi C. Earp will deliver opening remarks on Monday, Aug. 13, at 8:45 a.m.  Other highlights that day include updates from the Director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Linda Springer, and from Neil Anthony Gordon McPhie, Chairman of the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB).  On Tuesday, EEOC Commissioner Christine M. Griffin will highlight the agency's LEAD Initiative (Leadership for the Employment of Americans with Disabilities), as well as participate in an EEOC Commissioners' roundtable discussion.

The multi-day interactive and educational program features six plenary sessions, more than 60 workshops, and seven tracks including two specialty tracks: Hearings Preparation, and Advanced Mediation and Negotiation Skills.  Participants -- ranging from EEO managers, supervisors and specialists, attorneys, human resource professionals and union officials -- will receive information on recent developments in employment law and changes in agency procedures.  In addition to the EEOC, presenters come from the Departments of Justice, Labor and Veterans' Affairs, OPM, MSPB, the Social Security Administration and the private sector.

Further details about the conference, including the agenda, pricing information and online registration, is available online at www.eeotraining.eeoc.gov. The EEOC is responsible for enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination.  Additional information about the agency can be found on its web site at www.eeoc.gov
