Internship Program US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Office of Enterprise Data and Analytics

The Office of Enterprise Data and Analytics (OEDA) at the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) fulfills the following vital responsibilities: it administers the legally-mandated Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer data collections comprised of the EEO-1 Component 1, 3, 4, and 5, and disseminates this data to Commission officials at headquarters and in the field, Congress, Fair Employment Practices Agencies (FEPA) agencies, and the public; it provides analytic support for investigations of workplace discrimination and develops and maintains a central repository for workforce data; it facilitates data access through multiple partnerships; and it serves as a legal, social science, and statistical research source and provides a full complement of services and resources to all EEOC staff in support of the agency’s mission, thereby aiding in policy development, enforcement, investigation, and litigation activities. OEDA, under the direction of the Office of the Chair, aids the Commission in its efforts to achieve its mission and plan its goals and objectives strategically by researching, collecting, and analyzing relevant data and information; reviewing and analyzing organizational activities; and recommending approaches and procedures to improve operations by ensuring data-driven decision-making.

Overview:

The internships provide students with the opportunity to gain valuable skills while supporting the work of the agency in eradicating employment discrimination and advancing equal employment opportunity. Interns will work closely with experienced statisticians, data scientists, labor economists or industrial/organizational (I/O) psychologists, or librarians on a variety of diverse projects.

  • OEDA Data Interns, under supervision, participate in verification and validation efforts to improve data quality, prepare public data products, and assist in research on topics such as disclosure avoidance techniques and data linkage. Data Interns may assist in drafting or preparing documentation for topics related to data access guidance, policies, and procedures. They may, under supervision, provide technical assistance to researchers outside of EEOC.
  • OEDA I/O Interns, under supervision, may provide analytic support and consultation on systemic investigations involving tests and other employee selection procedures. I/O Interns may assist in reviewing, researching and drafting documentation for topics related to personnel selection and test validation.
  • OEDA Library Interns, under supervision of the EEOC Librarians, will participate in inventorying, digitizing and cataloging frequently used historical materials for the Agency archive. As part of its “Digital First” initiative, interns will also help facilitate the preservation and retrieval of the archival collection for research services. Interns may assist staff on other tasks and special projects such as research assistance and database management.

OEDA is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
