Chapman University, a private university in Orange, Calif., violated federal law when it denied tenure to and then discharged a black professor due to her race, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.

El Centro de Salud Mental en Delhi, California Pagara $25,000 Para Resolver la Demanda por Represalia de la EEOC

La Comisión para la Igualdad de Oportunidades en el Empleo (EEOC) anunció hoy que un centro de salud de rehabilitación mental está de acuerdo en proveer $25,000.00 – entre otras medidas – para resolver una demanda presentada por la agencia federal. La EEOC alegó que la empresa de California Psychiatric Transitions (CPT), basada en Delhi, California, despidió a un empleado por represalia por haber apoyado a sus compañeras de trabajo quienes se opusieron al acoso sexual.

Delhi Mental Health Rehab Center to Pay $25,000 to Settle EEOC Retaliation Lawsuit

A Central Valley mental health rehabilitation center has agreed to provide $25,000 and other relief to settle a federal lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that Delhi, Calif.-based California Psychiatric Transitions, Inc. (CPT) fired a male employee in retaliation for helping his female co-workers to oppose sexual harassment at the center.

$10 Million Consent Decree Ends Racial Harassment Case Against YRC/Roadway Express

Federal Magistrate Judge Susan E. Cox has granted preliminary approval to a $10 million, five-year consent decree which will end the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) race harassment and discrimination lawsuit against Roadway Express and YRC, Inc.  In addition to the multi-million-dollar monetary relief, the decree enjoins future discrimination at the facilities and requires the appointment of a monitor to oversee its implementation.

Domestic Fuels & Lubes Sued by EEOC for Sexual Harassment

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today it has filed an employment discrimination lawsuit against Domestic Fuels & Lubes, Inc., for subjecting a female employee to a sexually hostile work environment at its facility in Everetts, N.C.  Domestic Fuels & Lubes, whose primary office is located in Chesapeake, Va., distributes heating fuel, diesel and other petroleum products.

A Dyersburg, Tenn., company violated federal law by refusing to hire a class of African-Americans for deckhand positions because of their race, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed on September 9, 2010. The EEOC also charged that Choctaw maintained segregated job assignments and failed to properly maintain its medical and personnel records.
