EEOC Sues Mendota Restaurants, Inc. for Sexual Harassment and Retaliation

Mendota Restaurants, Inc. and Devang Brahmbhatt, which run a Taco Bell/KFC franchise restaurant, violated federal law by subjecting female employees to severe sexual harassment, constructive discharge and retaliation against employees who complained about the harassment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleged in a discrimination lawsuit filed today.

EEOC Sues Autonation on Behalf of German and Polish Workers

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced that it is suing AN Luxury Imports of Tucson, Inc. and Autonation USA Corp. for subjecting two employees to harassment based upon their national origin, German and Polish, respectively.  The dealership allowed its managers and employees to routinely make derogatory comments about the employees' national origin.

EEOC Sues Family Dollar Store of Virginia for Sexual Harassment

Family Dollar Services, Inc. violated federal law by subjecting one of its female employees to sexual harassment at one of its retail store locations, forcing her to resign from her employment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charges in a lawsuit filed today.  The store involved in the lawsuit is located in Richmond, Va.  According to company information, Family Dollar operates approximately 7,000 retail stores throughout 44 states.

EEOC Sues Warren Tricomi for Pregnancy Discrimination

Warren Tricomi, a New York-based hair salon with locations in the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan and in Greenwich, Conn., violated federal anti-discrimination law when it withdrew an offer for a promotion and fired an assistant colorist when it found out she was pregnant, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.

EEOC Sues Senior Assisted Living Company for Religious Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed a lawsuit against Senior Living Properties, L.L.C., d/b/a Sweetwater Healthcare Center, a company that owns 35 senior assisted living facilities in Texas, charging that the company refused to accommodate the religious beliefs of a dietary supervisor. Sweetwater Healthcare Center fired the employee after she told a new company administrator that her religious observances precluded her from working on Sundays.

Aqua Tri to Pay Nearly $500,000 to Settle EEOC Sexual Harassment, Retaliation Suit

An Irvine, Calif.-based pool supply company will pay $462,500 to resolve a sexual harassment, retaliation and constructive discharge lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged Aqua Tri, a supplier of pool sanitizing chemicals and other pool products, with subjecting a class of Hispanic employees to sexual harassment, retaliation for opposing it and forcing some of them out of their jobs.

A Mountain Home, Arkansas based company that operates a nursing home and rehabilitation facility violated federal law by discriminating against an employee because she complained about the hiring of a manager who had sexually harassed her at a previous employer, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today. The employee also placed Mountain Home on notice that she had filed a charge of discrimination against her previous employer over the sexual harassment.
