Arrowhead Honda Sued By EEOC For Same-Sex Harassment Of Men

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC") today announced the filing of a sex harassment lawsuit against Larry Miller – Peoria, Inc. (which does business as Arrowhead Honda) on behalf of a class of men who were subjected to a hostile work environment by the General Sales Manager.

Indiana Health Care Service Sued by EEOC for Pregnancy Discrimination

An Indiana health care service corporation operating a dental clinic in South Bend violated federal law when it fired an employee because she was pregnant and about to go on maternity leave, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  According to the EEOC's suit (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission v. Indiana Health Centers, Inc., Civil Action No. 3:10-cv-412-PF), Indiana Health Centers, Inc. terminated a dental hygienist shortly after her supervisor learned she was pregnant.

Securitas Security Services, USA, Inc., ("Securitas"), a uniformed security and patrol services violated federal law by subjecting a female employee to a sexually hostile work environment and then discharging her after she complained, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC") charged in a lawsuit filed today. Securitas employs over 260,000 people in 40 countries.

Two Railroad Companies Sued by EEOC for Retaliation

Watco Companies, Inc. and Kansas City Southern Railway Company, wholly owned by Kansas City Southern (KCS), violated federal law by retaliating against a former employee, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed on September 30, 2010.  Watco, based in Pittsburg, Kan., is a short-line railroad and provides switching services to other railroads, including Kansas City Southern Railway, which is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri.  KCS is one of Watco's largest and most important clients.

The Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums violated federal law by suspending and then firing a 71-year-old lifeguard who failed a swim test, while younger lifeguards who failed the same test were allowed to continue working, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.

New York-based Fox News Network LLC, which owns and operates the Fox News Channel based in Washington, D.C., retaliated against news reporter Catherine Herridge after she complained to Fox that she was subjected to disparate pay and unequal employment opportunities because of her gender and age, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced in a lawsuit filed today.

EEOC Sues Resources for Human Development, Inc. for Disability Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed suit against Resources for Human Development, Inc. (RHD), for firing an employee because of her obesity, in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the agency announced today.  The case arose from the charge of a former RHD employee, Lisa Harrison, who claimed that RHD fired her from a New Orleans facility because of her disability.

EEOC Sues Promens For Sex Discrimination, Harassment And Retaliation

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a lawsuit today charging that global plastics manufacturerPromens, Inc., formerly known as Bonar Plastics, Inc., violated federal law by sexually harassing female employees and retaliating against employees who complained. The EEOC also asserted that the company segregated employees by sex in that it assigned women and men to different departments of its West Chicago facility. The molding department to which women were assigned paid lower wages and provided employees with less opportunity for advancement than other jobs at the facility.

Ingram Readymix, Inc., a private concrete manufacturing company with 27 concrete plants in South Central Texas and over 500 employees, violated the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) when it discharged an employee because he told his supervisor that he had a disability and would be needing to take short periods of leave in the upcoming weeks for medical treatment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.

Longs Drugs Sued by EEOC for Race and Gender Discrimination, Retaliation

Longs Drugs violated federal law by discriminating against an African-American female employee and firing her shortly after she reported the discrimination to human resources, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.  The lawsuit also names CVS Caremark as a defendant because CVS bought Longs in August 2008 after the alleged discrimination occurred and is liable as Longs' successor.
