A group of interrelated automobiledealerships and financing companies in the Denver metropolitan area violated federal law by retaliating against an employee because she participated in a prior sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency allegedon Thursday, June 9, 2011, in a lawsuit filed in federal court in Denver.

Muncie Dollar General Store Sued By EEOC For Disability Discrimination

A Muncie, Ind., Dollar General Store and its parent company, Dolgencorp, violated federal law by failing to provide a reasonable accommodation to an employee who had dyslexia and then firing him because of the disability, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.

Experts Give EEOC Range of Views on Leave as a Reasonable Accommodation

At a Commission meeting today, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) heard a range of views from a diverse panel of experts concerning the use of leave to provide reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities.  While the witnesses differed as to some employer and employee obligations, they agreed on the need for clear and uniform guidance from the EEOC.  The meeting, featuring representatives of employees and employers and EEOC officials, was designed to explore the use of leave.

A Detroit Lakes, Minn., roofing company has agreed to pay $71,500 to seven black, Hispanic and American Indian employees to settle racial harassment and retaliation charges brought against the company by a former employee, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.

EEOC Obtains $600,000 Verdict Against AutoZone For Failure To Accommodate Disabled Employee

A federal court jury in Peoria has returned a verdict of $600,000 against AutoZone, Inc. for failing to provide a reasonable accommodation to a disabled sales manager, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today. An additional claim for $115,000 in back pay will be decided by the presiding judge at a later date.

Columbia Women's Shelter To Pay $103,000 To Settle EEOC Suit For Retaliation

A Columbia, Mo., shelter for women who have been victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse has agreed to pay $103,000 to settle a lawsuit by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for unlawful retaliation, the agency announced today. The EEOC had charged that two employees were punished by True North, Inc., formerly known as Comprehensive Human Services, Inc., for reporting sexual harassment by the shelter's executive director.

Dunkin' Donuts Franchise to Pay $290,000 to Settle EEOC Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

College View Donuts, LLC, doing business as Dunkin' Donuts, will pay $290,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  In its suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York (Civil Action No. 1:09-01320 TJM/RFT), the EEOC charged that the manager of a Dunkin' Donuts store in Wynantskill, N.Y., sexually harassed female employees, some of whom were only 16 and 17 years old.

Longs Drugs Settles EEOC Race, Gender Discrimination and Retaliation Suit

A major pharmacy chain has agreed to pay $55,000 and to implement preventive training to settle a federal lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleging race and gender discrimination and retaliation, the agency announced today.  The EEOC had sued on behalf of an African-American female buyer who had been employed at Longs Drugs, which was later bought by CVS Caremark.
