EEOC Sues Family Dollar Store of Virginia for Sexual Harassment

Family Dollar Services, Inc. violated federal law by subjecting one of its female employees to sexual harassment at one of its retail store locations, forcing her to resign from her employment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charges in a lawsuit filed today.  The store involved in the lawsuit is located in Richmond, Va.  According to company information, Family Dollar operates approximately 7,000 retail stores throughout 44 states.

EEOC Sues Senior Assisted Living Company for Religious Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed a lawsuit against Senior Living Properties, L.L.C., d/b/a Sweetwater Healthcare Center, a company that owns 35 senior assisted living facilities in Texas, charging that the company refused to accommodate the religious beliefs of a dietary supervisor. Sweetwater Healthcare Center fired the employee after she told a new company administrator that her religious observances precluded her from working on Sundays.

LHC Group, a national health care company, violated federal law by discriminating against a field nurse because of her disability, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  The EEOC alleged that LHC Group, doing business as Gulf Coast Homecare in Picayune, Miss., denied Kristy M. (also known as Alabama Thrift Stores) violated federal law by refusing to provide an employee with a reasonable accommodation and subsequently firing her because of her disability, degenerative joint disease, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.  Alabama Thrift Stores buys new and used items from local charities and department stores to sell to the public, and operates 15 stores in five states.
