Frank A. Mora to Pay $43,000 to Settle Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

Frank A. Mora, individually, and as the authorized corporate officer of Two Lac, Inc. d/b/a Oasis One Dry Cleaners, a McAllen, Texas dry cleaning and laundry service, will pay $43,000 and provide significant remedial relief to a former female employee who was subjected to a sexually hostile work environment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today.

United Road Towing to Pay $380,000 to Resolve EEOC Disability Discrimination Suit

United Road Towing, Inc., a Mokena, Ill.-based towing company, will pay $380,000 to 13 claimants and provide other relief resolving a disability discrimination lawsuit, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced.  A federal district court judge in Chicago entered a consent decree ending the litigation on Wednesday, June 20, 2012.

EEOC Appellate Briefs Now Online

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today that it has put its appellate and amicus briefs going back to 2000 on its external website. These briefs from the EEOC’s Appellate Services Division represent litigation in the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals in which the Commission was a party, or briefs filed as a ‘friend of the court’ (amicus curiae) in those courts, as well as in U.S. District Courts and state courts

Jaazrubin, LLC, doing business as Savory Fare Bakery and Café in Albuquerque, has agreed to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for $20,000 and other relief, the agency announced today.

Johns Hopkins Home Health Care to Pay $160,000 to Settle Disability Discrimination Lawsuit

Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, Inc. (JHHCG), a full-service home health care provider, will pay $160,000 and provide other relief to settle an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).  In its lawsuit, the EEOC alleged that JHHCG violated the ADA when it discriminated against an employee because of her disability, failed to provide her with a reasonable accommodation for her disability, and retaliated against her for bringing her claims to the EEOC.

Whirlpool Settles EEOC Race and Sexual Harassment Lawsuit for One Million Dollars

Whirlpool Corporation agreed to drop its appeal of a race and sex harassment judgment for over one million dollars and resolve the case with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Plaintiff-Intervenor, the federal agency announced today.  The settlement comes almost six years to the day after the EEOC's Memphis District Office first filed suit on June 9, 2006.

H&E Equipment Services to Pay $125,000 to Settle EEOC Sex Discrimination Lawsuit

H&E Equipment Services, Inc., one of the nation's largest dealers in heavy equipment, will pay $125,000 and furnish other relief to settle a sex discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.  The lawsuit, filed on Sept. 28, 2011 in federal court in Denver, charged H&E with violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by failing to promote and then laying off a female supervisor because of her gender.  H&E is a Delaware corporation registered to do business in Colorado; its headquarters are in Baton Rouge, La.  The alleged discrimination occurred at its Denver-area facility.

A Lincoln, Nebraska-based supplier of lighting products violated federal law by refusing to hire a qualified applicant at its Tulsa facility because of his religious beliefs, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.
