EEOC's El Paso Office Signs Agreement with Mexican Consulate

The El Paso Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso.  The agreement establishes an ongoing partnership between the agency and the consulate which will provide information to Mexican citizens working in the United States about their rights under federal laws that protect workers in this country from discrimination, regardless of documentation status.  This will include educational sessions, Spanish-language informational materials, and training to staff about the EEOC and the laws it enforces.

EEOC Sues Mountaire Farms for Retaliation

Mountaire Farms, Inc., doing business as Mountaire Farms of North Carolina Corp., unlawfully fired an employee in retaliation for his complaining about national origin discrimination, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleged in a lawsuit filed today.  Mountaire Farms is a Delaware-based agricultural food processing company that operates a poultry processing facility in Lumber Bridge, N.C.

Oficina De La EEOC Del Distrito De Dallas Firma Acuerdo Historico Con Consulado Mexicano

La Oficina del Distrito de Dallas de la Comisión Para la Igualdad de Oportunidades en el Empleo de los EE.UU. (EEOC) firmó un Memorando de Entendimiento con el Consulado General de México el 26 de agosto en Dallas. El acuerdo establece una asociación constante entre la agencia y el consulado que proporcionará información a los ciudadanos mexicanos que trabajan en los EE.UU. acerca de sus derechos bajo las leyes federales que protegen a los trabajadores en este país de la discriminación, independientemente de su condición legal. Esto incluirá sesiones educativas, materiales informativos en español, y capacitación acerca de la EEOC y las leyes que hace cumplir.

EEOC's Dallas District Signs Historic Agreement with Mexican Consulate

The Dallas District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Consulate General of Mexico on Aug. 26 in Dallas.  The agreement creates a partnership between the EEOC and the consulate for the purpose of educating Mexican citizens working in the United States about their rights under federal anti-discrimination laws, regardless of documentation status.  As part of the agreement, the EEOC will present educational events, provide Spanish-language informational materials and deliver training sessions to consulate staff about the EEOC and the laws it enforces.

EEOC And Cooper University Health Care Reach Accord on Reasonable Accommodation Issues

The U.S. Equal Employment Commission (EEOC) announced today that Cooper University Health Care has implemented policy changes that strengthen its processes for addressing reasonable accommodations for employees who must be absent from work due to serious medical conditions. Cooper has also agreed to pay $500,000 to former employees to amicably resolve disputes over the extent of reasonable accommodations previously granted.

Oficina De La EEOC Del Distrito De Nueva York Y Consulado Mexicano Firman Acuerdo De Asociación Histórico

Esta semana, la Oficina del Distrito de Nueva York de la Comisión Para la Igualdad de Oportunidades en el Empleo de los EE.UU. (EEOC) y el Consulado de México en Nueva York firmaron un Memorando de Entendimiento (MOU) en una conferencia de prensa conjunta. El acuerdo, firmado por el Director de la Oficina del Distrito de Nueva York de la EEOC Kevin Berry y la Cónsul General Sandra Fuentes-Berrain Villenave, establece oficialmente una colaboración de cinco años entre las entidades gubernamentales para consolidar sus esfuerzos para hacer cumplir las leyes, proteger y educar a ciudadanos mexicanos sobre sus derechos de empleo de en el lugar de trabajo, independiente­mente de su estatus migratorio. Miembros de la prensa y medios de comunicación de habla inglesa y en español asistieron a la firma del acuerdo.

EEOC's New York District Office and Mexican Consulate Sign Historic Partnership Agreement

Today the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) New York District Office and the Mexican Consulate in New York signed a Memorandum of Under­stand­ing (MOU) at a joint press conference in New York City. The agreement, signed by EEOC District Director Kevin Berry and Consul General Sandra Fuentes-Berrain Villenave, officially establishes a five-year collaboration between these government entities to solidify their efforts to enforce, protect and educate all Mexicans about their employment rights of in the workplace, regardless of immigration status. The signing of the agreement was attended by members of English-language and Spanish-language press and media.

EEOC Sues Battaglia Distributing Company for Racial Discrimination

Battaglia Distributing Co., Inc., a Chicago wholesale food distributor located at 2500 South Ashland Avenue, permitted a hostile work environment where use of racial slurs was common, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  According to the EEOC, slurs were used by both black and white supervisors to scold black employees.  In addition, frequent, offensive racial banter among hourly workers was routinely tolerated by management.

Oficina de la EEOC del Distrito de Miami Y Oficinas del Consulado Mexicano Firman Acuerdo Histórico de Extensión

La Oficina del Distrito de Miami de la Comisión Para la Igualdad de Oportunidades en el Empleo de los EE.UU. (EEOC) firmó un Memorando de Entendimiento (MOU) en Orlando hoy con el Consulado General de México en Miami y el Consulado de México en Orlando. El acuerdo establece una colaboración entre estas entidades para facilitar a mexicanos con información, orientación y acceso a recursos para la prevención de la discriminación en el lugar de trabajo, independientemente de su estatus migratorio. El Cónsul mexicano Efran Nicolas Leyva Acevedo de Orlando y el Director de la Oficina del Distrito de Miami de la EEOC Malcolm S. Medley, firmaron el acuerdo. Cónsul General Suplente de México Vladimir Hernández Lara de Miami firmó el documento antes de la reunión de hoy.

Platinum P.T.S. To Pay $100k to Settle EEOC Pregnancy Discrimination Lawsuit

Platinum P.T.S., Inc., a Laredo-based company which provides oil/gas testing, measuring, surveying and analysis surveys, and oil and gas exploration and development, will pay a former employee $100,000 to settle a pregnancy discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.

EEOC'S Miami District Office and Mexican Consulate Offices Sign Historic Outreach Agreement

The Miami District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Orlando today with the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami and Consulate of Mexico in Orlando.  The agreement establishes an ongoing collaboration between these entities to provide Mexican nationals with information, guidance, and access to resources on the prevention of discrimination in the workplace regardless of immigration status.  Mexican Consul Efran Nicolas Leyva Acevedo of Orlando and Miami District Office Director Malcolm S. Medley signed the agreement.  Acting Mexican Consul General Vladimir Hernandez Lara of Miami signed the document prior to the meeting today.

Fifth Circuit Rules for the EEOC in Age and Disability Discrimination Lawsuit

In a unanimous decision issued on Friday, July 26, 2013, the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit reversed a Beaumont, Texas, trial court judge's grant of summary judgment in favor of DynMcDermott Petroleum Operations Company (DM), a federal contractor, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced.  The EEOC had sued the company, alleging that it discriminated against an applicant on the basis of age and disability.
