AA Foundries Agrees to Drop Appeal of  EEOC Racial Harassment Lawsuit

AA Foundries, a San Antonio manufacturer of ferrous castings and producer of foundry mold machines, has agreed to drop its appeal of a racial harassment judgment for $140,000 and resolve the case with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.  The settlement comes 2 ½ years after the EEOC's San Antonio Field Office first filed suit.

Oficina De La EEOC Del Distrito De San Francisco Firma Acuerdo Con El Consulado Mexicano En Seattle

La Oficina del Distrito de San Francisco de la Comisión Para la Igualdad de Oportunidades en el Empleo de los EE.UU. (EEOC), firmó un Memorando de Entendimiento con el Consulado General de México. El acuerdo establece una asociación entre la agencia y el consulado que proporcionará información a ciudadanos mexicanos que trabajan en los EE.UU. acerca de sus derechos bajo las leyes federales que protegen a los trabajadores de la discriminación, independientemente de su condición de documentación legal.

EEOC's San Francisco District Office Signs Agreement With Mexican Consulate In Seattle

The San Francisco District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Consul of Mexico in Seattle today.  The agreement establishes a partnership between the agency and the consulate which will provide information to Mexican citizens working in the United States about their rights under federal laws that protect workers in this country from discrimination, regardless of documentation status.

EEOC Sues Wal-Mart for Age and  Disability Discrimination

Wal-Mart Stores of Texas, LLC discriminated against a store manager by subjecting him to harassment, unequal treatment and discharge because of his age, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed in federal court today.   The EEOC's suit also alleges that Wal-Mart violated federal anti-discrimination law when it refused the manager's request for a reasonable accommodation for his disability.

EEOC and FTC Offer Joint Tips on Use of Employment Background Checks

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) today co-published two technical assistance documents that explain how the agencies' respective laws apply to background checks performed for employment purposes.  One document is for employers; the other is for job applicants and employees.  This is the first time that the two agencies have partnered to create resources addressing concerns in this key area.

Federal Agencies Resolve Equal Pay and Retaliation Claims Against Harmony Public Schools

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced today that they have entered into a consent decree to resolve both agencies' claims against Harmony Public Schools on behalf of Nicole M. Tuchscherer, a former teacher at Harmony Science Academy-Austin.  The decree is pending approval by the U.S. District Court.

Boh Bros. Construction Co. to Pay $125,000 for Same-Sex Harassment in EEOC Lawsuit

Boh Bros. Construction Co. has agreed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to a consent judgment which requires the company to pay $125,000 in compensatory damages to a former employee in a sex discrimination/same sex harassment case.  The consent judgment cannot be appealed and effectively brings the litigation to a close.
