EEO-1 Survey Open for 2014

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has completed its mailing of the 2014 EEO-1 survey Notification Letters.  The EEO-1 is an annual survey that requires all private employers with 100 or more employees, and federal government contractors or first-tier subcontractors with 50 or more employees and a contract/subcontract of $50,000 or more to file the EEO-1 report.  The filing of the EEO-1 report is not voluntary, and is required by federal law.  The annual filing deadline is September 30, 2014.

President Appoints Jenny R. Yang EEOC Chair

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced that President Obama has named Vice Chair Jenny R. Yang as Chair of the EEOC.  Yang, whose term expires July 1, 2017, was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 25, 2013.  She has served as Vice Chair since April 2014.  Yang will be the first Asian-American Chair of the EEOC.

EEOC Sues Kone for Retaliation and Breach of Mediation Agreement

Kone, Inc., a manufacturer and servicer of elevators and escalators, breached a mediation settlement agreement and violated federal law by retaliating against an employee because she had made a discrimination charge, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed August 29, 2014.

Bertolini Corporation to Pay $92,500 to Settle EEOC Retaliation Lawsuit

Bertolini Corporation, a stackable chair manufacturer based in Chino, Calif., will pay $92,500 to settle a retaliation lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged Bertolini Corporation in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., with unlawful retaliation against two employees.
