Lawler Foods Refused to Hire Non-Hispanics  EEOC Charges in Discrimination Suit

Lawler Foods, Inc. and Lawler Foods, Ltd., a Houston-area production bakery, violated federal law by engaging in a pattern or practice of failing to hire black and non-Hispanic applicants for entry-level positions in its facility, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed December 16, 2014.

EEOC and Sherman Howard L.L.C. Conciliate Sexual and Gender Discrimination Charge

A former assistant in one of the offices of the regional law firm of Sherman & Howard L.L.C. filed a charge of discrimination with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Denver Field Office. The charge contained allegations of sexual harassment and gender discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended.

La Oficina del distrito de St. Louis de la Comisión Para la Igualdad de Oportunidades en el Empleo (EEOC) entrará en un Memorando de Entendimiento (MOU) con el Consulado de México en Kansas City el miércoles, 10 de diciembre, la agencia anunció hoy. La firma tendrá lugar en el Consulado de la oficina de México en Kansas City, 1617 Baltimore Avenue a las 12:00 p.m. La Cónsul Alicia Guadalupe Kerber Palma y el Director de la Oficina de la EEOC del Distrito de St. Louis James R. Neely, Jr. firmarán el acuerdo.

EEOC's St. Louis District Office to Sign Outreach Agreement with Mexican Consulate

The St. Louis District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Consulate of Mexico for Kansas City on Wednesday, Dec.10, the agency announced today.  The signing will take place at the Consulate of Mexico's office at 1617 Baltimore Avenue at 12:00 p.m.    Head Consul Alicia Guadalupe Kerber Palma and the EEOC's St. Louis District Director James R. Neely, Jr. will sign the agreement.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today that it has filed a contempt action against Metro Special Police & Security Services, Inc., a Charlotte-based provider of private security and public safety services.  The contempt action charges that Metro Special Police breached of the terms of an agreement it entered into with the EEOC to resolve a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit.

Well Servicing Companies to Pay $1.2 Million to Settle EEOC Suit for Race Harassment, Retaliation

A federal judge in Casper, Wyo., has approved a $1.2 million settlement in a case brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against Dart Energy Corp. and two related companies, the federal agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged well servicing companies Dart Energy Corp., Beckman Production Services, Inc., and J&R Well Service, LLC with violating federal law prohibiting race and national origin harassment and retaliation. The EEOC sought monetary and injunctive relief for more than a dozen men who claim that they had to endure racially derogatory comments and jokes on a regular and repeated basis.

Angel Medical Center to Pay $85,000 to Settle EEOC Disability Discrimination Suit

Angel Medical Center, Inc., a full-service critical access hospital located in Franklin, N.C., will pay $85,000 and furnish other relief to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that the hospital unlawfully refused to accommodate a nurse undergoing cancer treatments and subsequently fired her because of her disability.

Amsted Rail's Hiring Practices Violate Disability Discrimination Law, EEOC Charges in Lawsuit

Amsted Industries, Inc. and Amsted Rail Co. Inc., a leader in the manufacture of steel castings for the rail industry, improperly used physical tests and applicants' health histories in the hiring process at their Granite City, Ill., facility, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it announced today.  The result of these practices, according to the agency, was to deny employment opportunities to a class of people who had a history of carpal tunnel syndrome or who Amsted believed might develop that condition.

Consent Decree Ends EEOC Race Discrimination Lawsuit Against Battaglia Distributing

A federal district judge has entered a $735,000 consent decree resolving a race harassment lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The case, EEOC v. Battaglia Distributing Corp.,  Inc., No.13-cv-5789, had been pending in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, in Chicago.

EEOC Issues FY 2014 Performance Report

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) continued to make progress toward accomplishing its goals and fulfilling its mission during fiscal year (FY) 2014, which ended Sept. 30.  Because of the lingering effects of sequestration and the government shutdown, the EEOC fought hard to overcome extraordinary fiscal constraints and operational challenges in FY 2014.
