Lafontaine Cadillac, Buick, GMC, Inc., a Highland, Mich.-based automobile dealership, will pay $75,000 to settle a racial harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that Lafontaine unlawfully subjected a black employee to a racially hostile work environment.

EEOC's Miami Office and Philippine Embassy's Consular Section Sign Historic Outreach Agreement

The Miami District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the consular section of the Philippine embassy of Washington, D.C. in Fort Lauderdale today.  The agreement establishes an ongoing collaboration between these entities to provide Philippine nationals with information, guidance, and access to resources on the prevention of discrimination in the workplace regardless of immigration status.

Noodles Asian Bistro Sued by EEOC For Pregnancy Discrimination

Noodles Asian Bistro, Inc., an Asian restaurant located in Bartlett, Tenn., violated federal law when it fired two female servers because of their pregnancies, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.  The EEOC also alleged that Noodles Asian Bistro failed to post and keep posted the notice of non-discrimination rights as required by federal law.

EEOC Sues S&B Industry for Disability Discrimination

S&B Industry, Inc., a Fort Worth cellphone repair facility, violated federal law by denying employment to two hearing-impaired applicants because of their disability, the U.S. Equal Employ­ment Opportunity Commission charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  The EEOC's suit also alleged that S&B Industry violated the law by denying the two applicants a reasonable accommodation during the application process.

ValleyLife, a disability support services company, unlawfully discriminated against disabled employees by refusing to provide them with reasonable accommodations in violation of federal law, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona.  ValleyLife is an Arizona corporation which provides programs and support services for individuals with disabilities in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.

Wal-Mart Pagará $150,000 Para Resolver Demanda Por Discriminación a Base De Edad Y La Discapacidad Por la EEOC

Wal-Mart Stores de Texas, L.L.C. Wal-Mart Stores of Texas, L.L.C. (Wal-Mart) has agreed to pay $150,000 and provide other significant relief to settle an age and disability discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC charged in its suit that Wal-Mart discriminated against the manager of the Keller, Texas Walmart store by subjecting him to harassment, discriminatory treatment, and discharge because of his age.  The EEOC also charged that Wal-Mart refused to provide a reasonable accommodation for the man's  disability as federal law requires.
