Cudd Energy Services to Pay $39,900 To Settle EEOC Racial Harassment And Retaliation Lawsuit

A Texas-based oilfield service company operating in Williston, N.D., will pay $39,900 to settle a racial harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today. The EEOC's lawsuit charged that Cudd Energy Services violated civil rights law by subjecting an employee to a racially hostile work environment because of his race, Asian, and then firing him after he complained about it.

Applebee's Grill and Bar to Pay $75,000 To Settle EEOC Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

New Apple, Inc., doing business as Applebee's Grill and Bar, a North Carolina corporation that owns and operates several Applebee's restaurants throughout the southeast, will pay $75,000 and provide other relief to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today. The EEOC charged that New Apple violated federal law when it subjected two female employees, who are sisters, to a sexually hostile work environment.

Golden Corral Franchisee to Pay $85,000 to Settle  EEOC Disability and Sex Harassment Lawsuit

Jax, LLC, which operates a Golden Corral restaurant in Matthews, N.C., has agreed to pay $85,000 and provide other relief to settle a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today. The EEOC had charged that Jax discriminated against an employee when it subjected him to a hostile work environment based on both his disability (autism) and his sex (male). The EEOC had also charged that the employee was forced to resign because of the harassment.

EEOC Sues Halliburton For  National Origin and Religious Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced today that it has filed suit against energy giant Halliburton Energy Services, Inc. for subjecting two employees to national origin and religious discrimination. The EEOC's suit also charged that Halliburton unlawfully retaliated against one of the employees by firing him for reporting the mistreatment of employees.

EEOC Acting Chair Lipnic Releases Report on The State Of Older Workers And Age Discrimination  50 Years After The ADEA

Victoria A. Lipnic, Acting Chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), issued a report today on the State of Older Workers and Age Discrimination 50 Years After the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA). The ADEA was signed into law in December 1967 and took effect 50 years ago this month, in June 1968. The ADEA was an important part of 1960s civil rights legislation that was intended to ensure equal opportunity for older workers.

The report finds that age discrimination remains too common and too accepted as outdated assumptions about older workers and ability persist, even though today's experienced workers are more diverse, better educated and working longer than previous generations.

Anchor Staffing to Pay $30,000 To Settle EEOC Sex Harassment and Retaliation Suit

Anchor Staffing, Inc., a Chicago-based staffing agency, will pay $30,000 to settle a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today. The EEOC's lawsuit charged Anchor Staffing with violating an employee's federal civil rights when it failed to respond adequately to the employee's complaint about sexual harassment, removed her from her work assignment, and denied her any future work.

EEOC Sues Master Marine for Same-Sex Harassment & Race Discrimination

Master Marine, Inc., a Gulf Coast shipbuilder, violated federal anti-discrimination laws when one of its lead welders sexually and racially harassed a male Asian-American welder at its Bayou La Batre, Ala., headquarters, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today. In addition, Master Marine subjected three African-American employees to racial harassment, the EEOC said.
