UPS Unit to Pay $95,000 to Settle EEOC Disability Discrimination Suit

UPS Supply Chain Solutions (UPS SCS) will pay $95,000 to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that UPS SCS, a business unit of the United Parcel Service, the world's largest package delivery company, unlawfully denied a reasonable accommodation to a deaf employee.

Sysco Oklahoma LLC., a leader in food distribution, will pay $82,000 and furnish other relief to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that Sysco subjected a disabled employee to unlawful medical inquiries, demands and, ultimately, termination on the basis of her disability.

Cyma & Taean Orchids To Pay $240,000 For Harassment, Discrimination Against Latina Farm Workers

One of the largest orchid farms in the U.S., Cyma Orchids, Inc., will pay $200,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleging pervasive harassment, discrimination and retaliation due to sex and national origin bias, the federal agency announced today. The farm's former owner, Taean Orchids, will pay an additional $40,000.

Courtesy Building Services Settles EEOC Sex Harassment Suit

Courtesy Building Services, Inc., a janitorial and construction service which has offices in Dallas and Fort Worth, has settled a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today. Under a consent decree, the company will pay a former employee $27,500 in damages and attorney fees, and agrees to monitoring by the EEOC to ensure compliance with the law for a period of seven years.

Garfield Medical Center To Pay $530,000 For Sexual Harassment, Retaliation

The Garfield Medical Center, an acute care facility in Monterey Park, Calif., will pay $530,000 to settle a lawsuit alleging the sexual harassment of its staff, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today. According to the federal agency, several of the female targets of the harassment were either retaliated against or compelled to quit after their complaints were ignored by hospital management.

Simon Property Group To Pay $125,000 To Settle EEOC National Origin Discrimination Lawsuit

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced the $125,000 settlement of a national origin harassment lawsuit it had filed against Simon Property Group, Inc., which identifies itself as the largest real estate company in the United States. The EEOC had charged that Latino janitors working for the company were subjected to daily verbal attacks because of their national origin. Simon Property Group owns and/or manages various shopping malls throughout the country, including the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the site where the EEOC said the abuse occurred.
