Danny's Of Jackson, LLC. To Pay More Than $3.3 Million in EEOC Race Discrimination Case

A Mississippi federal court jury yesterday returned a verdict in favor of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and five black  dancers who were subjected to egregious race discrimination while employed by Danny's of Jackson, LLC (Danny's), doing business as Danny's Downtown Cabaret, a Jackson, Mississippi night club. The verdicts included $1.5 million in punitive damages $1.68 million in compensatory damages, and $130,550 in backpay.

City of Jacksonville Agrees to Pay $4.9 Million to Settle Class Race Discrimination Lawsuit

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today that it has resolved its race discrimination lawsuit against the Jacksonville Association of Fire Fighters, Local 122, IAFF. The EEOC's lawsuit against the union was a companion case to the lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice against the City of Jacksonville (Case No.3-12-cv-451-J-32MCR), which alleged that the city's promotional practices for various positions in the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964's prohibition against race discrimination.

EEOC Sues NDI Office Furniture, LLC For Sex Discrimination and Retaliation

Nashville-based NDI Office Furniture, LLC, the largest office furniture distributor in the Southern United States, violated federal law by systematically refusing to hire women to work at its Birmingham warehouse, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today. When a female job applicant complained to corporate headquarters about the discriminatory policy, NDI unlawfully retaliated against her and her son, an NDI employee, by firing him, the EEOC further charged.
